How this works and common questions
About this tool
Each wall is turned into drops from its width and the roll width. The strip length is the wall height plus the pattern repeat. Waste is applied to the roll count.
How it works
Each wall width is divided by the roll width and rounded up to whole drops. The strip is the wall height plus the pattern repeat. Drops that fit on one roll are the roll length divided by that strip, rounded down. Rolls round up, then the waste percent rounds up again.
Rules
Openings are not deducted. Add waste if you need less paper. Verify with your local code or a professional. Ballpark estimate, check before you buy or quote.
Questions
How are rolls counted?
Each wall width is divided by the roll width and rounded up to whole drops. The strip length is the wall height plus the pattern repeat.
What does the pattern repeat do?
It is added to the height of every drop before the tool sees how many drops fit on a roll.
Where does waste go?
The waste percent is applied to the roll count, then rounded up to a whole roll. Openings are not deducted. A 126 by 96 inch wall on a 21 by 396 inch roll with no repeat and no waste is 2 rolls.
