How this works and common questions
About this tool
A row includes a plant at each end, then one plant every in-row spacing. Rows use the same rule on the width. A part plant is not counted. Ballpark estimate, check before you buy. Nothing you type is stored or sent.
How it works
Plants in a row are the length divided by the in-row spacing, remainder dropped, plus 1. A 3 m bed at 0.30 m spacing is 11 plants. A 1.20 m width at 0.40 m row spacing is 4 rows. The bed holds 44 plants. Area is 3.600 m², which is 38.750 square feet.
Rules
A bed shorter than the spacing still holds 1 plant if the length is above zero. A zero length holds 0. Metric is the starting choice. Ballpark estimate, check before you buy.
