Quote and estimate builder
Build an itemized quote, print it or save it as a PDF, and keep a copy. You type every price and tax rate.
Your quote
Add a line to see your totals.
How the totals are worked out
Each line is quantity × unit price. Lines of 50.00, 50.00 and 25.00 give a subtotal of 125.00. A discount line is subtracted from the subtotal. Any tax you type is added after that.
Rounding
Each line is rounded to the cent. A line of 2.5 at 33.33 is 83.325, which rounds to 83.33.
Why each tax is worked out once
Take three lines of 0.10 each. They add up to 0.30. The tool rounds each tax once, on the combined amount of the lines you ticked, not line by line, so rounding does not add or drop a cent for every line.
Discount lines
Add a discount as its own line. It is subtracted from the subtotal, and it lowers the amount of every tax you tick on it. Discounts larger than the items are refused, so check the amounts.
Valid until
Type a number of days and the tool counts forward from the quote date. A quote dated 2026-10-15 and valid for 30 days is valid until 2026-11-14. There is no default: you choose.
What to put in a quote
A job title, your details, your client, the lines and prices, what is included, what is not included, and any notes. Everything is in your own words.
Printing or keeping a PDF
Print or save as PDF opens your browser's print window. Choose "Save as PDF" as the printer to keep a file. The page is headed Quote.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting to write what is not included.
- Mixing hours and days in the same quantity column.
- Typing a line total as the unit price, so the quantity multiplies it again.
Using your CSV
Export CSV downloads a file you can open in a spreadsheet. It holds the lines, the subtotal, each tax and the total. A leading apostrophe on a text cell stops the spreadsheet from treating that cell as a formula. Numbers in the file use a dot.
A note for Canadian businesses
You type your tax name and rate. This tool does not know, look up or check any rate. Check the rate you use with the official source or a qualified professional.
Questions
Does it send the quote to my client?
No. Print it or save it as a PDF, then send it yourself. Printing or copying a quote does not send it.
Can my client accept it here?
No. This tool does not collect signatures or track a reply.
Where do I put my tax rate?
In the Taxes section. You type a name and a rate, then tick the lines it applies to. The tool does not suggest any rate.
Do I need an account?
Only to save. Without an account, what you type stays on this page and nothing is saved.
Is the PDF a real file?
It comes from your browser's print window. Choose "Save as PDF" as the printer and your browser makes the file on your device.
Which currency does it use?
Canadian dollars (CAD). The tool does not convert currency.
Why does the CSV show an apostrophe?
A leading apostrophe stops a spreadsheet from reading your text as a formula.
