How this works and common questions

About this tool

This calculator uses only the figures you type. It finds a percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, and a percent increase or decrease. Nothing is stored.

How it works

Percent of multiplies the amount by the percent and divides by 100. What percent divides the part by the whole and multiplies by 100. An increase adds that percent to the start. A decrease subtracts it. A decrease above 100% goes below zero.

Rules

Figures are 0 or more, with up to 4 decimal places. The main result is rounded half up to 2 decimal places. A whole of 0 has no percent. Nothing you type is stored or sent.
