How this works and common questions

About this tool

The type follows the dollar bands on the Canada Revenue Agency types of remitters page. A new account uses the monthly withholding amount. An existing account uses the average monthly withholding amount from two calendar years earlier. Quarterly bands also need the perfect compliance record you say you have. This is not a CRA decision. Your statement of account controls.

How it works

You enter the withholding amount and whether the account is new. If you say compliance is perfect, a new account under $1,000 or an existing account under $3,000 is quarterly. Otherwise an amount under $25,000 is regular, $25,000 to $99,999.99 is threshold 1, and $100,000 or more is threshold 2.

Rules

Thresholds are the CRA types of remitters bands, as of 2026-10-03. The CRA assigns the type. This page does not file a remittance and does not check your compliance record.
