How this works and common questions

About this tool

You set the three shares and any dates. The tool splits the price you typed. It does not say what deposit is allowed.

How it works

Each share is a percent of the job price. The deposit and the progress payment are rounded to the cent, half up. The final payment is whatever is left so the three amounts add up to the price.

Rules

The three shares must add up to 100%. Each share can be zero. Dates are optional. This page does not apply tax and does not set a legal due date.

Questions

How do I split a job into stages?

Enter the total and the share for each stage. The tool shows the amount for each payment.

Do the shares have to add to 100?

Yes. The tool tells you if they do not, so no part of the price is left out.

Does it tell me what deposit is allowed?

No. It only does the maths. Check the rules for your trade and province before you set terms.

Do I need an account?

No. The tools work without one. You only need to sign in to save your work.

Is what I type saved?

No. Nothing is saved unless you sign in and choose Save. Otherwise it stays on the page.

Do you show ads or sell my information?

No. We show no ads and we do not sell your information.

Is this tax or legal advice?

No. Results are estimates for planning. Check rates and rules with the official source or a qualified professional.
