How this works and common questions
About this tool
Owner pay is income minus costs, minus a reserve, minus a set-aside percent of the profit. This is a simple estimate, not advice. Nothing is stored.
How it works
Profit is income minus costs. When profit is above zero, the set-aside is that profit times the percent you type, rounded half away from zero to the cent. Owner pay is profit minus the set-aside minus the reserve.
Rules
This is a simple estimate, not advice. A loss does not get a set-aside. You type the percent. Nothing is stored.
Questions
What can I pay myself?
Income minus costs, minus the reserve, minus the set-aside. On $10,000 income, $6,000 costs, a 25% set-aside and a $1,000 reserve, owner pay is $2,000.00.
When is the set-aside zero?
When profit is zero or below, or when you type 0%. The set-aside is not taken on a loss.
How is the percent rounded?
Half away from zero to the cent. $10.00 at 33.33% is $3.33 set aside, because the leftover fraction is under half a cent.
