How this works and common questions
About this tool
Profit is the price you charged minus the costs you type. The margin is that profit divided by the price. You decide what counts as a cost.
How it works
Add labour, materials and other costs. Subtract that sum from the price charged. The margin is profit divided by the price, shown as a percent rounded to 2 decimals, half up. Money is rounded to the cent.
Rules
The price must be above zero so the margin can be divided. Costs can be zero. A negative profit means the costs were higher than the price. This page does not take off tax or tell you what to charge next time.
