How this works and common questions
About this tool
Each line is an asset, a liability, or equity. The gap is assets minus liabilities minus equity. A zero gap means the lines you typed balance. A simple estimate, not advice.
How it works
Cash 5,000.00 and equipment 3,000.00 are assets of 8,000.00. A loan of 2,000.00 is a liability. Owner equity of 6,000.00 makes liabilities plus equity 8,000.00. The gap is 0.00. Totals are the cents you type, added.
Rules
You choose the kind of each line. Assets, liabilities, and equity are added separately. The gap is assets minus liabilities minus equity. A negative gap means liabilities plus equity are higher. This is not a set of books. A simple estimate, not advice.
